Going beyond builder-basic

There are a lot of “builder basic” landscapes in Vancouver, and landscaping is often one item that gets pushed further down the priority list, or even forgotten about entirely when building a new home.

Luckily, with our help, your new dream home can look like it from the outside, too.

Sunbathing on the patio

Here’s an awesome example of how a landscaper can take a fine yard and turn it into something incredible. The first image here is the yard we started with.

As you can see, the redesign of this backyard not only made it a more practical space to entertain and relax in, but the clean lines of the patio make the area feel easily twice as large.

We were able to help the homeowner keep their personal style in the look of the space, and now this backyard can be shared even better with friends and family.

If you want to get a lot more out of your yard, or are just sick of that cookie cutter builder basic landscaping, give us a call and we can give you something you’ll love.

Landscaping season in full swing!

Is your yard looking a little drab now that the sun is finally out? Plants can bring some color and vitality to any space. Whether you are looking for a large tree to bring shade and interest to your back yard, or just a little shrubbery to fill out that garden bed space– we can select the best local plants that will thrive where we plant them.

What happens if something we plant dies? Obviously when you work with plant material, sometimes seemingly healthy plants don’t make it. But when you do your project with J’s Custom Landscaping, not only can you be sure that our initial plan will be expertly crafted to fit your project and your yard, the plants we bring in are typically covered by a warranty policy designed to catch those unexpected die-outs, which usually happen in the first year.

Our crews are out at job sites all over the Vancouver and Portland area every day planting trees, laying sod, mowing grass, and placing pavers. If you have a landscaping project big or small, whether that’s a major cleanup or just getting signed up for a reliable, professional, lawn care service, give us a call at 360-521-1479, and our office staff can set you up for a free consultation.

Become THIS:

This clean, simple design looks so natural and well-suited to this home and neighborhood. It’s come a long way!

To achieve something that looks this good, it takes real expertise and a custom touch. Here’s a point-by-point assessment of the project, note how many of the key components required some tailoring unique to just this project:

 – Manorstone retaining wall with a cap detail in NW Blend
 – Dominion Slate pathways in harvest blend
 – Block & paver steps custom fit to unique shape of the driveway transition
 – Custom pattern designed to fit these steps
 – Custom pattern designed to fit this pathway
 – Custom curves to shape the path to the retaining wall
 – Complete lawn renovation with sod installation
 – Complete bed renovation with new plants and medium fir bark dust
 – Irrigation adjustments to fit the new shape of the yard

We have excellent suppliers and access to top notch commercial materials, but it takes more than just good blocks to make a project like this a reality.

Our consultants are meeting with homeowners and property managers every day to plan projects just like this one. Give us a call today.

Custom step and pathway patterns

There are a number of popular hardscape patterns for pathways, driveways, and patios. Here’s a breakdown of some of the more common requests.

Here are two different patterns we used on a recent project. These patterns are a custom pattern one of our reps designed with input from the homeowner. The homeowner liked an element of a popular design, but the space and specifics of the project required us to improvise a way to implement that shape into the greater pattern that would look cohesive on the property.

Do you have a mental picture of a pathway for your home in Vancouver? Would that sloped area in your yard in Camas really benefit from some steps? Want that rustic cobblestone look to tie together your front yard in Portland? We can work with you to make that into a reality. Give us a call.
